I want to build some rear drawers/storage for my 06 4Runner, anyone have some good plans?

Think I'll follow this one to see what you come up with. I also want to do something in the back of my 08 T4R. Maybe make some cool drawers and a shelf for a fridge. If I plan it right, I'll use up enough of the cargo space that I can rationalize a AT Trailer in the future!!:sombrero:

Some god ideas in the thread, I was kind of hoping someone might have a line drawing or materials plan but it shouldn't be too hard to sort out.

I built a set for my 06 T4R. I didn't really do a write-up, but there are some pics here:

Now we need one of the rear seats though, so the full-width drawer is currently holding tools in the garage and I built a half-width drawer to replace it.

For the cost of doing it right with nice slides, latches, high-grade plywood, and a nice finish (e.g. marine varnish, bedliner, or carpet), I'd strongly consider looking at AT's composite drawers. I am very particular about having things exactly the way I want and not wasting any space, and I am also a cheap b*****d and my time is cheap, so I did it myself.

Where are you located? I could probably be talked out of my large drawer for the cost of the materials. Unfortunately, after 2 years out of the vehicle I finally tossed the side pieces on the left and right of the face of the drawer... not really needed in the garage.

I would suggest starting with some cardboard to get an idea of what you want, and then use that as a template.

This is perfect timing, my son wants a box for his 96 4runner also. I did a metal box with a drawer and slide area for my engel fridge/freezer for my 07 FJC.Iposted a pic on another drawer thread here , it wont let me repost same pic.

That looks nice JBS, I'm in NC so not exactly close by.

I'm guessing the extension over the back seat was for sleeping? If so, did you put an air matteras over it and how big?

Thanks. Yes, the extension is for sleeping. I just used the Silverback Paco pad that I already had (26"x78"x4"), but I could have fit something 48+" wide.

A cardboard template is a good idea. If you decide to build your own, look at all the pics here and on IH8MUD to get ideas and places to buy the parts. I'm no carpenter, but if you take your time, you can make something really nice.
