I have one I made that is (IIRC) 36 inches x 34 inches and has 6 inch sides. The only bad thing is that I am way down in Texas. Let me know if you want pics.
Here are some pics. I built this for one trip I took in my landcruiser. It was made to fit on my thule bars in between two bike mounts. It was just the right size for some bags, and action packer, and a small ice chest. As you can see the sides are made so you will have multiple tie down points and places to lash things down.
I never painted it because I finished it just in time for my trip. I was going to paint it when I got back but sold the landcruiser and its been setting in the garage ever since.
Since it is unpainted if you like it but want more options, I could even add anything to it you want, light tabs, axe holder, what ever. It would give me an excuse to use my welder again. Also I just weighed it at 26lbs (on my bathroom scale)
I mounted it with simple u-bolts. The neat thing about having the floor it does is multiple mounting options. Two simple pieces of flat stock with holes drilled in them and bolts would have worked just as good. I was in a hurry so I just used the u-bolts.
