Low cost nose box alternative

I picked this up today at my local Harbor Freight. $69.99.

It's not a huge box, but it has enough room for my Optima Yellow Top, inverter, and onboard battery charger.

I will be adding a piece of plywood to strengthen up the floor b/c the Optima is heavy as heck.

Comes with mounting hardware, 2 keys, and a nice strut for the lid.

Nice Dave..you planning on adding a vent? Looking forward to some updates soon..anxious to see how it's coming out.

No plans for a vent since the Optima is a sealed AGM battery.

The trailer is currently getting sand blasted and primered.

nose box

I will have to check this out. I had a nose box with two Group 27 batteries. That was a lot of tongue weight and I took it off. Just keep the weight factor in mind. I might like it for some light stuff like a tarp and bungees.

went over to our local HF. None of the boxes in stock. I was hoping to check one out in person first, but doesn't look like I'll be able to.

AT nose box and batteries

Hi guys, even though the Optima batteries are a sealed unit they still emit Hydrogen gasses, small amounts but the do emit them, When you store the trailer place a small wedge under the top to stay safe. The major issue here is not really explosion so much as rust accumulation in the corners. I have multiple xperiences with this issue so familiar is a teacher. Enjoy em..Jim
