Low mileage 7.3 manual ford value?

Hey everybody,

Well in a pickle..I have a great truck for a overland build people would be looking for. Our truck was purchased for a long term build and to have a dependable proven truck. We have been investing money into it to make it more powerful and updated to more efficient , but not in the hotroad category and lose reliability or life span. It was a one owner vehicle with a great owner before... we are debating about selling it for a different route. Lady doesn’t like manual. Looking at newer trucks the price goes way way up. If we sold the truck, we don’t want to give it away, because of the things done and how much life is left in it. Curious what a truck like ours is worth to a person looking for an overland build. Not KBB. I will list mods below. Love to hear your feedback. I know these are getting harder and harder to find.

We owned a diesel Silverado for 4 years with the rare manual and sold it for about 30% more than we paid, manual trucks are just plain tough to find. Only sold it because we needed 4 full doors for the kiddos. By the way, threads like this are usually frowned upon as they typically turn into a for sale thread, but that is a great truck and should be easy to sell. I had 3 offers on ours within an hour of posting it in the local classifieds.

Somewhere around 15k IMO. Sure its low mileage, but age creates just as many problems as miles. All the gaskets are 18 years old, and 7.3 motors love to leak from many places. Not to mention modern gassers are just as powerful, while being smoother/quieter/more comfortable. By looking at comparable units you could ask as high 20k and come down from there depending on interest from buyers.

10k to 12k is about all I would pay for something of that age. Low mileage is great, but the age still kills it IMO. You may start with 15k as mentioned above, but I would guess you settle somewhere in the neighborhood of what I mention. We are still talking about an 18yr old truck here. In two years you can get classic plates for it, and in 12 antique.

Value depends on the area it’s sold in also. I would say 10 through 15. You think that’s low mileage? My fiend bought one new in 01 and it has 50k on it, it’s pretty much mint garage kept 7.3, 4x4 quad cab... he was offered 20 k for it and he thought that was allot.

Those are nice and tasteful upgrades which should put you at the higher end of the price range. In Southern CA that would list for 18-19k and probably sell for around 15ish pretty quick. That is a great platform for covering some miles on and off-road.

List it for 20k and see what offers you get. People pay crazy money for these trucks and if you can get the premium, why not. At 20k it's 1/3 the price of a new one...

This. Doesn't sound like you're in a hurry. Be aware, though, that it will be a difficult piece for someone to finance. List it on Craigslist and every late teens/early twenties DB that wants a diesel to impress women is going to be trying to buy it. You're looking for an adult cash buyer and those aren't as easy to come by. Be patient and you'll find the right buyer.

I would wager that 3/4 of the DB's would lose interest when they notice you actually have to shift it yourself.... And the right buyer will know exactly what that truck is worth and pay cash, some people don't finance secondary vehicles or the toys we tow with them.

For me - the biggest tell may be the body shape. Those engines are pretty tough (if I recall correctly).
How much rust do you have? Type?
