Does anyone know what the lowest height roof rails are, that will fit an 80 with the factory rack removed? I will beusing them to mount a roof top tent. Thule, Yakima, Rhino? Thanks

i'm not happy with the height on the yakima a1s that i've got now. i need figure out a way to make my gamviti mounts work with longer rectangular stock for my maggi as the rtt is much closer to the roof than with the yakimas. not the best pics, but if you look close, you can see the difference.

I used Diamodrax bulldog clamps and the tent sits about an inch above the roof with OEM roof rails removed.

Diamond Rax and Thule cross bars. These clamps are very beefy.

What crossbars did you use for the Gamiviti mounts? How do they attach?
Thanks

replied to your pm too, originally used 1x2 rectangular stock, but it wasn't in the cards to make them wide enough to really support the maggi, plus the maggi ubolts aren't quite wide enough to bolt on. i will be going to 1x1 stock this summer sometime and welding nuts into the stock so i don't need to have the room to run the wrench in when i bolt the mounts up. the 1x2 i originally used was actually and old lightbar that i whipped up when a sales rep needed a display for cruise moab a couple years ago to mount some truck-lite leds. i'll whip anything together for some bitchen and free truck parts ;)

I have Slee's aluminum crossbars. African Outback I think they are.

They are wide, which is great for support and surface area and very strong and durable. I had a Maggiolina mounted and it's a great platform to rest it on.
They are also low profile *lower than Yaks or Thule
with just enough to get hands underneath for clamps.

I use the Gamiviti ones with my Front Runner rack (used to be on my 100). Very low profile and stout.
