LR3 Coil Conversion Upper Strut Mount Busted

I'v been chasing some front end nose for awhile. Turns out my upper strut mount is separated. Called Atlantic British and they are going to try and figure out where to get one, or if they can. I'm thinking its got to be the same upper mount used on the overseas coil trucks doesn't it? I can get that through my local LR Dealer for $70. Anybody out there know for sure?

7,000 or so miles and just over a year, so out of warranty. I do wheel the truck pretty hard and more often than most.

It's cool how I went to the coil set-up for reliability and now I'm dealing with this.

Will be interested to see the pics, as you said you do wheel yours but still-just seems odd that after 7k it died.

AB called today and they are sending one out $50 or so. I'll get pictures once the new one arrives and I remove the strut. Also, I'll check if it is an LR part.

Im sorry to hear that you are having issues but if it makes you feel better your not the only one. I was on the phone with another coil guy today complaining of lack of lift and ride quality when Loaded down for overlanding. He's going to switch back to Air.

If I had it to do over again I just would have fixed the air system and sold the truck. I'm at 120,000 now and this thing is starting to nickel and dime me to death like every Disco I've owned.

I just had the truck up at high altitude and the hitachi in my lr4 ran enough that I was paranoid (IID Tool can't fix a fried compressor motor), in the back of my mind I was thinking of doing a coil setup my whole trip, I am curious what your thoughts are and to see exactly what failed...

Sorry about your luck!

That does sound like every rover, ever.

I'm intrigued that someone wants to switch back to air due to height and ride while loaded down. I need to get mine fully laden but am guessing ride will improve with weight on the +2 HD coils. Not that ride is bad unladen truth be told.

The 2 inch lift coils are not able to handle the weight of a truck wearing front, rear bumpers and rock sliders and gear. Major complaint is it sways as it drives down the road making it very unstable.

Interesting. So far with front bumper, sliders, rack it has not been bad at 85+ mph. Will see more when I drive to Oman in a few weeks. That said I deliberately went with a fairly light bumper, FR rack, etc bc it's heavy enough empty. I also am trying to apply the Marine principle that just bc you can fit it in your pack doesn't mean you should hump it.

sorry to hijack,
Ray what springs did you put in yours? I wonder if the springs people are getting in the Atlantic British heavy duty kit are different. In order to lift this guy's truck to fit 32.5 in tires we had a put custom 2 inch spacers on top of the heavy-duty coils. After that the truck still sits lower than ours on air with the Proud Rhino lift rods.
