LR3 on the Rebelle Rally

My wife recently completed the inaugural, women’s-only Rebelle Rally in our LR3. The event covered over 1,200 miles, from Lake Tahoe to the dunes outside of San Diego. I’m so proud of her. Over a grueling 7 days, traversing challenging offroad trails, she made it through with grace, steadfast endurance, and grit. My wife did pretty good too :smiley_drive:

Seriously, the vehicle did do great. Made it to the start and finish each day, with no mechanical issues. The only problem was when they drove into a “witches eye” in the dunes, and my wife forgot to turn off DSC. It gave them a chance to use the maxtrax.

So we've been back from the Rally for a whole week. Friends and family have asked what it was like. I'm not an English major, so I'm kinda at a loss for what words to use to describe the rally. It was a big deal. Big as in huge, enormous, long, strenuous, emotional, exciting, boring (3 hours at 30 km an hour--well, unfortunately, 30.3 km an hour (oversized tires)) (that's 18.6 mph for you North Americans), tiring, exhilarating, exhausting, worthwhile.

Cool! One of the women (Erin) from our club was looking at running this in her LR4 but couldn't quite get the enthusiasm up to make it all happen. Maybe next year!

Not too much. I've been using BFG ATKOs for my last 3 sets of off-road tires. They're a bit more expensive, but they've never let me down on the trail.
The Asfir front skid plate took a good shot on a sand dune (one of the other competitors took a video, linked below) - the skid plate bowed a bit, but it did it's job. The video shows the difference in weight between a jeep and the LR3.

The only other impression was how nice the LR3 handles both on road and off. We drove some 700 miles from AZ to Lake Tahoe before the rally - at high speeds and very comfortable even for a hard 12 hr highway drive. Then after the rally, I met my wife, and we had an 80 or so mile freeway ride into San Diego. There were a few participants caravaning, and it was a step into the older jeep world to keep speeds down to 55-60 on the freeway. Not all Jeeps certainly, but it's nice in the LR3 to be able to press a button and be lifted rig person when offroad, and then press another and be able to cruise on the highway and keep up with traffic.

I was thinking of a snow plow, but your description is much better
