LR3 Tires

Definitely beating a dead horse here, but looking for some input on tires for my LR3.

Criteria: long lasting, somewhat aggressive tread (mainly for looks as 99.9% of my driving is commuting), and little to no road noise.

I'd like to go a little larger than the 255/60R18 set I have currently, without rubbing at stock height or having issues if my air suspension were to fail. Any size recs with this in mind?

First, the best size for you will be 265/60/18 as it is will not rub in any circumstance. It fills the wheel wells just a bit more and looks like what the OEM tire should have been in my opinion. The 265/65/18 look great, but also look like someone purposely put larger tires on and can rub in access mode in reverse. That may be a rare occurance, but it happens, especially with the larger treadblock all-terrain tires. It's also easier to fit the 265/60/18 underneath if you carry a full size spare.

As for tires, I had the Wildpeak AT3W and found them to be excellent in wet and dry and ok in snow. Noise was low and wear was very good. I would have ordered a 2nd set except I could not get them when I needed them. I ended up with the Sumitomo Encounters in the same 265/60/18 size and they are also excellent. Sumitomo is the parent company of Falken, so basically its a very similar tire to the Wildpeak. Just slightly less agressive looking but it is also a hair quieter (so far, and the Wildpeaks were not loud at all). Both tires are made in Thailand.

A second vote for the Wildpeaks. I have had them in snow, sand, rock crawling, and mud. Loving the results.

I have 265/60/18 WildPeaks and can attest to their low noise, great wear, excellent abilities, and long life.
I have over 45k miles on mine right now and still have plenty of tread left (5-tire rotation w/ full-size spare).

I thought I read recently they changed the compound and aren't as good now, but not sure about that - do your research.

My 265/65/r18 BFG KO2 have been great. On my 2nd set as of March. First set got ~65k miles ~8y years. I had to remove the exhaust tire well guard to get the spare to fit. Never had a problem with rubbing in any scenario that I encountered. I I've done a hair of off-roading too.

Looks great. Performs great in snow/off-road /highway. Excellent weight capability, long lasting,, and you can get them delivered on Amazon Prime for a competitive price (kinda crazy!)

I don't remember what the old tires sounded like in 2013, but you can hear them on the road... You just turn the music up a little more ?

These are exactly what I run, on, offroad and through the snow. Great in all situations. I did specifically choose them for the size and 10ply / E rated weight. Never know when less than four tires might need to carry the weight. They do seem to slow the truck down a little because of the heavy tire. No rubbing so far, and I keep a spare on a swing out. I was a little surprised on how agressive they look.

Would've definitely considered Falken wildpeaks if they had the extra weight rating, or the Toyo Opencountry at3 - but this one was fairly new when I was getting tires.

Take a look at Perelli Scorpion AT's. Tread pattern is asymmetric, they will not whine. Very smooth. Very good in snow.
