I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add some as I recently used it for the winch install on my 2006 Range Rover Sport. I used everything from the original post BUT I added ONE small thing that is a game changer IMO.
Instead off just tossing the steel bumper I cut out the middle and used the original left/right bumper mounts to help reinforce the mount, bumper strength and keeps the original placement for the valve block and washer fluid holder. Just cutout the middle, drilled out the bottom holes on the bumper arms for the 1/2 inch bolts and reattached over the winch mount using the 4 stock bolts on top and the 1/2 from the mounts at the bottom.
