LR4 Reliability

The LR4 gets the 3.0 diesel. It has 255 bhp, 443lb ft of torque.
Does 0-60 in 8.7 and can return high 30s on a run.

They are a totally different beast from my 2.7 diesel.
If you are getting them in a few year's then you will enjoy them. Great low down pick up and they rev cleanly through to over 4000. The diesel is 4750rpm max, well mine is anyway.

The LR4 is relatively new, so long-term reliability is difficult to predict. However, the LR3 and the MKIII Range Rover have both proven to be an order of magnitude more reliable than their predecessors. I have an LR4 and it has been 100% reliable in the 11,000 miles we have been driving it.

Hi! I'm new around here. I'm from Costa Rica and I own a Discovery 4 2012. It is the same LR4 except for the engine. This is powered by a SDV6 3.0l, biturbodiesel engine :smiley_drive: and I must tell you that it's the best car I ever had, the best 4x4 system called Terrain Response and the average consumption is the same as a 4 cylinder diesel engine. I've been using it for 40,000 km (almost 30,000 miles) and no complaints at all. Delicious Sound System (Harman Kardon Logic 7), best seats ever and the shape of a container that allows you to sleep in it. Excuse my english.

By the way, this engine has a huge amount of torque, so it´s explosive after 0.5 seconds of cranking it up. The amounts of CO2 are almost half of the gas engine. It is a good idea that Jeep is showing for the first time in USA.
As simple as this example: the New Range Rover Sport V6 turbodiesel is faster than the V6 gasoline powered...

Your English is great. Everyone in North America is jealous of your proper diesel. Around here all we can get is a thirsty v8

Brakes and bushings are the big issues with the lr4

And stay away from the scv6 motor in the new ones.

Sorry, I coudn't understand you, what s the problem with the brakes? So what 's the reason to be afraid of the, what engine? It would be nice to know your complaints with your known LR4 to be helpful 🍻

It runs rough IMO and seems like it is always in the wrong gear and hunting for the right gear. Pus it is the same block as the v8 with the back cyls filled with foam.

They eat brakes and bushings.

Sorry KyleT, that's inaccurate. The 3.0 diesel is a PSA V6 engine, as whole the LR and Jaguar V6 and V8 current engines, based on Ford engines, used for more than 2 decades into Jaguar, Citroên, Peugeot, etc ( ? wikipedia)
About the brakes, I got my Discovery 4 for 15 months now, with 30,000 miles and the original front brakes yet, because haven't been worn! Incredible?, so as the rest of the steering system, it's under warranty! I have had a new Chevrolet pick up Truck, Toyota 4 runner, 2 Mitsubishis, whole 4x4 and never saw and felt this quality before. I must defend this point of view because it deserves to. And for the record, as you can see on pics, I use to drive my Discovery 4 maybe 20% offroad just for fun! As much that I had to change the tires to A/T (USA made Cooper Zeon LTZ 255-55r19) after 20,000 miles, because it's my amusing ATV too! I spend a lot of time over it, always pushing its limits ?

Great point. "eating" bushings and brakes is an overstatement. My wife's sport just had brakes replaced at just under 40k for the first time and i'm at 36k on my LR3 w original brakes and decent life left on the pads and rotors. All original control arm bushings on both vehicles. Given the weight and amazing capabilities of these vehicles on and off road, brakes and control arm bushings every 35 - 50k depending on conditions and how you drive is not bad. Plenty of other heavy, off road capable trucks and suv's need similar maintenance.

We don't get diesels in America, the scv6 is as I described. I saw brakes replaced at 20-30k all the time. Again in America, where the op is at. We drive fast here. And some can get more but that is bonus time...
