I was in the same dilemna and could not decide on lid or elevated rack for RTT. I finally went with the lid as I want the security of the lid but still trying to decide if I just mount the RTT on the Thule rack I have or build a rack that is raised about 10"-12" so I can use the annex for the RTT.

I am sold on the lid.

And have we learned to have the in-laws over for dinner more often? Isn't that the wife has been saying for a while now? :coffeedrink:

Funny!!!!!!!!!

If my father-in-law had an M416 in his barn I would ask him over more often too. All he has is an old Studebaker truck and hay!!!!

Ok I'm back! so looks like we have one vote for a lid.

what is the angle for the top of the lid?

Also, how are you attaching the skin to the frame? welds or rivets?

Did some searching and found my answer on the angles and attachment.

Next question...

Has anyone ever successfully used a roll and lock lid similar to the pace edwards jack rabbit

He loves Jeep!
Very awesome find!My vote is for a lid also. I love the lid cause it allows me to carry firewood and my spare tire under the tent. Giving it some protection from rain.

Great job!

I too thought about a roll top since it would be a whole lot easier (or so it seems) but could not think of a good way to attach the RTT without brackets coming up from tub. Great idea. Would love to see someone make it work

So I've started to strip the paint in the bed and have decided to Linex the interior. Then White and Black paint on the exterior to match my truck.

What do y'all think?

We have a White JK with black accents and went with White/Black on the trailer to match...here it is so you can see it.

Used Rustolem roll/brush on in black and white high gloss. A quart of each did the top, bottom, everything. Used spray undercoating in some areas to get "in" the nooks and crannys.

FAW, Great looking trailer!

Ive decide to go all black, most of the areas where I will be camping are back in the woods of florida on dive trips. Sometimes I will leave the trailer behind and drive back in to town so I figured black is the least likely to be seen through the woods and be messed with.

Here are some progress pictures.

Ive stripped and painted the whole trailer, added Rhino Lining to the inside, and rewired the trailer for trailer lights. Ive also Gutted the old light housings and replaced the insides with parts from newer lights.

As of now I'm leaning toward building a rack and bolting it in, that way I can change it out to a lid if I want later on.

I am currently working on a tonneau cover for my trailer until I can afford a metal lid down the road. Would you be able to find a roll back cover that actually fits or do you have to have one custom build. I ran into this issue since my trailer is only 3' wide. I could not find a truck bed out there that was that width.
