Lug nut options?

In an emergency I'd like to use my 17" alloy spare FJ wheel on my off road teardrop trailer. The trailer has an Alko axle that uses a 1/2" 20 thread stud. The FJ of course has the Toyota mag or flange type lug nut that not only has the 12 X 1.5 thread but also the Toyota exterior dimensions.

Anybody know of a manufacturer that makes an FJ lug with 1/2" 20 thread? I've been unsuccessful searching through Gorilla's (Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories) application catalog; they make FJ lug nuts but only in the 12 X 1.5 thread.

The best solution (in my opinion) would be to use a hub centric spacer/adapter. Not only would that solve the lug nut thread issue, it would also correct the offset of the factory Toyota wheels to match the allowable offset of the wheels trailer axle. You could use the 1/2" 20 threads to attach the adapter to the axle and use the factory Toyota lug nuts to hold the wheel onto the adapter. Note that most trailers use wheels with no offset. Factory Toyota wheels have an offset. If wheels with a significant offset are used on a trailer axle, it potentially could cause excessive wear on the trailer bearings.

Edit: This would make more sense obviously if you permanently mounted the adapters to the axle and bought a spare set of factory matching wheels for the trailer. Otherwise it would make using the spare more complicated.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing's ever easy is it?

Another alternative that I'm presently using - should the trailer tire have an issue - is a trip to town without the trailer to get the tire repaired. Eventually I should probably shop around for 2 Toyota wheels and spacers and lugnuts for the trailer and convert it over to Toyota....or gamble nothing happens...

I was able to find 12mm studs to press into my Dexter brake hubs to match my taco wheels so that I could use matching OEM lugs and wheels on my trailer. I took a hub off and pressed out a stud using a BFH and brought both took my local Carquest. The owner (gear head) measured them, pulled out the Dormans catalog and found one that I was able to smash in.

If you go here and click on the "View Chart" button under wheel lugs you should be able to figure out the part number yourself with some calipers.

I've got 38 lugs and they're all interchangeable--in case of ANY FAILURES--1/2 Spline lug nuts--harder to steal !

Over the top I'm afraid-and I carry extras

Whatever
