I think you'll enjoy living in the hamp. It's beautiful

That's what I hope. I've heard about it's natural beauty from a number of people... and it will make a good basecamp to go up and explore eastern Canada! (I've never really explored anything in that part of the country/world.

Also...
The Waggy's exhaust broke right where at the entrance of the muffler. I heard it rattling around when driving and the flange had broken into pieces. My neighbor has a Harbor Freight stick welder. I borrowed that and welded a section back together. I only had a short section of rod to work with so it's being held together with about 2" total of splattery weld. ...I think it's time to get a mig soon.

And changed the front brake pads.

Haha, until I buy my own welder and learn how to weld better, I've left it to my friend who does it for a living...lol.

I got the blue hawk mig 100, works fine for exhaust work using flux core wire (not pretty, but who cares on exhaust). It also has the ability to run gas for mig. I've used it 5 or 6 times for various stuff and it does the job. I have a co2 tank and regulator for regular mig, but haven't used it yet. I think all in (including cart, mask, gloves, wire, tank and regulator) i have around $250 into it, which is about one trip to an exhaust shop...

Lots of great places to camp in the NE. I've camped all over the east from Maine down to NC.

That's funny because my welding friend moved away almost a year ago. So my rigs aren't getting the "pretty" weld treatment anymore. I'm getting better at mig but things would progress a lot better if I had my own setup to practice on. At any rate... anything would be better than that harbor freight setup!

I'll have to check that blue hawk setup out. It might be a good starter setup. I've been keeping my eyes on craigslist too.

Do you have any favorite campsites you'd be willing to share in NH or Vermont?

I will have to go look at where we stayed (family trip) if I can find it. I know we camped near Mt. Washington in VT and hiked to the top, but there are a few campgrounds near there. I think the campground we stayed at in NH was Tidewater as we weren't far from the beach. I know a lot more places in NY and PA as I lived in NY for my first 25 years and still have family there - and I'll be camping in PA in June and NY in July. I'm hoping to have the GW ready for the June trip, but we'll see. I'm just in the final stages of an engine swap so it needs some testing before towing my airstream any large distance so I may just be taking the Silverado for the next couple of trips.

Fwiw, I scored a nice Miller-matic 220 mig off government liquidation for a few hundred bucks. Put a new power chord on it and it's been welding away ever since.

The Hobart Handler 140 is good. Hobart = Miller for cheaper. A miller equivalent of the Hobart 140 is what my buddy used for my bumper. I've used the Handler 140 at a family member's house, and it welds smooth as well.

And avoid the home Depot Lincoln stuff. The HD doesn't stand for "heavy duty" as they'd have you believe. It's actually a cheaper made Lincoln sold for less.

Well... I moved to the east coast. I still haven't found a house to buy but the Waggy is out here now. I've driven it around and it's running great! The altitude compensating diaphragm in the carb really seems to do the trick!
