M100/M416 Lunette/Casting/Landing Leg assembly

All,
I have the full coupling assembly for an M100/M416 trailer. All parts present and assembled ready to be bolted onto the trailer. I'm considering whether it's best to part it out or sell it as a unit. A casting alone went for $237 on Ebay and that's halfway to my new axle with bells and whistles. I think that if I part it out, I can buy the new axle and have the new coupling built.

Any thoughts on parting it out v selling it as unit?

Anyone interested?

The unit has two receiver holes for the Lunette ring, I think this set up is for the M416 only, can anyone comment?

Hi:

New to this site but not to the Bantam and M416 trailers :) I believe the M100 and M416 have interchangeable parts. I don't know if this is helpful but that has been my experience. Also, post this question in the G503.com site. A lot of knowledgable people there. Hope that helps.

The swing down leg bracket for the two are different. The lunette ring used to sell for about $180, I think I paid $180ish for the casting. Check out....

Part it out!

If you decide to part them out, I would certainly be interested in the lunette, nut and washers. I have an M100 it would mate well with...at least I understand them to be compatible.

The castings for the MBT/T3/T3-C/M100 are interchangeable with each other but not with the M416. The drawbar angles are different.

a question on the M100

The castings for the MBT/T3/T3-C/M100 are interchangeable with each other but not with the M416. The drawbar angles are different.

Thanks for the input. I have another guy saying that he's put the M100 casting on his M416 without issue. I'm not doubting anyone, it seems like for person who say's you can interchange them, there's just as many that say you can't. I'm going to photograph the thing in detail and put it up for sale as a whole unit I think and let the buyer decide if its right for them.

Since you've done one of these rebuilds a while ago, can you comment on the axle. Is the Bantam axle the same as the M100 military axle? Have you heard of anyone changing out the hub and drum for a 5x5 hub/drum combo deal from Dexter?

I really don't want to carry two spares when I travel so I'd like to match the wheels on my 2013 Jeep and I'd prefer to keep the axle that's on there. It's in great shape, I ran it at 70mph for 90 miles and pulled like dream, no bounce, no sway, no heated hubs or axle.

I'm on several forums related to this project. There's a lot of conflicting information regarding M100/BantamT3C/M416 part compatibilities. I've done a little internet research including various forums, supplier websites, ebay, craigslist, et al. Parted out to private parties, the assembly would bring around $585 (I couldn't post pictures here, check the ih8mud forum for a photo, same user name). I'm asking $450 cash, you pick it up and part out what you don't need. That way, you can confirm it's the right unit before paying and that's best for everyone. You get what you expect and my reputation as an honest person remains intact. If you want it shipped without personally inspecting it, we can talk, but the risk is all yours.

Once the coupler is sold and I use that money to change my axle, I'll be dumping the complete axle w/wheels and suspension (drums/brakes/rims tires/springs). Parted out it would draw about $750-$1000 ( depending on where you're located; these things are scarce to come by), I'll be looking to get $600.

For whatever it's worth, when I purchased this trailer in the fall, I pulled it about 90 miles at 65-75 mph on the interstate with several turns in residential areas before getting it home. Didn't even know it was back there, pulled like a dream, no noise, no sway, no bounce and hubs/axle were nice and cool when I parked it. It was empty except for the coupler assembly.

If you want it all (axle and lunette assembly), I'll take $900 for both; but, I'll need to get the new axle on, before giving up the old.

Anyone who's interested should PM me.
