M101/416 Trailer top

I'm thinking of building a bit of a raised top for my M101.

I don't plan on needed it to support an RTT, but a pair of bikes or a 'porta-bote' might be in order depending on where I'm going.

The trailer already has a tailgate cut.

I've seen a few done on here, and to those people. What would you do again, what would you do differently?

I'm thinking of an aluminum top. 6-12" off the top of the top of the trailer. hinged to the side.

Thoughts?

I'm planning on my lid to follow the tub angle like a mirror (i.e. AT's Chaser) but still debating on a side hinge or tongue hinge. I'm also still in debate on a drop gate or swing gate.
