M101 toy hauler

I recently sold my first military trailer. It was a M416 in great condition that I had a hinges lid made for the RTT. 47EF5143-09B7-4981-820A-AAE9A31BDF84.jpeg
This setup was great for us, but it had some limitations. First of those limitations were it was only good for camping. There was little utility to be had out of the setup. The second issue was that there was no way to transport quad bikes or dirt bikes. So we sold our trailer and bought the new project.

The only thing that remains of the original trailer is the tub. The frame, axle, and rack are all fabricated. Admittedly it does have a fair bit of rust, but for our purposes for the trailer, I’m not too worried.

On the list of things that need attention are:
Properly lengthens axle. This is a shame because the axle is new, but the wheels both have 2 inch spacers to clear the fender wells. I’m NOT a fan of spacers so a new axle will need to be bought.

The white box needs some fiberglass repair.

Tie downs inside the tub need to be added for toys.

A max coupler will replace the standard ball receiver.

Once these have been addressed I’d like to add a folding table on the side with some sort of galley storage. A 270 awning will be added as well as our RTT.
You know how it goes, the list keeps getting longer, so follow along and see how the progress goes!

For the tie downs, I just popped cable around the frame bar and routed them up through the holes in the tub. It was cheap and simple. To keep them from flopping when not in use, I’ll just use some Velcro one wrap. The tail gate chains will be replaced with cable as well, to keep excess noise down.

Today I mounted our tent, and finished a few odds and ends like replacing the tailgate chains. I also purchased a Dewalt tool box and mounted it on the rack for galley supplies. The plan is to have a table that can fold down in the side of the trailer for cooking and meal prep.

RangeDrive. Did you custom build that rack insert that the tent is on? Or was it an off the shelf product that you retro fitted on?
