M101A1 Trailer Build

I am in the middle of building a M101A1 myself. Just swapped out the axle for a 6 lug 5200lbs with powder coated steel rims and BFG AT's 265/75/16 E's. I ordered the axle from ABC trailer and it was around $240 shipped. Your spring perch's should measure 43.25 at the centers. My axle bolted right up like a glove. I am working on a hard lid right now myself. I am going the 1/4 marine plywood covered in 24oz fiberglass. Steel would be to darn heavy and aluminum is just too much $$

OK, so I dropped the trailer off at the shop this morning. New axle, tires, and wiring. Will post picks when complete.

shocks

I want to replace the shocks on my M101A2 also.
I am going into the local NAPA auto parts with it in hand and check the size.
Length and eye size. should be all that maters.

I will post my findings as to what vehical they list as.

Sounds great, thanks for the post. Saw your trailer thread, you have a great trailer to build on. Congrats on the find.

Found this on the Steel Soldier website

Found this listed on the Steel Soldiers website:
Lots of neat military trailers there. Register and see!

Monroe 34944 , 32301 , 37040 , or 911040 will all fit the trailer.

how does the bronco pull the trail? (I just bought one, but have yet to pull it with the bronco)
I plan on doing the axle swap as well, what kind of weight reduction did you see with the swap?
thanks
