I was an Allison Transmission Field Service Tech for 10 years or so, that transmission is damn near bullet proof.

Somebody know what is the cruise speed of that truck? It looks a rock solid platform.

From LoRoad's thread:
The truck is on it’s way to have the gearing changed out from the 7.8:1 ratio to the 6.14:1 ratio and having the ECU for the transmission reprogrammed (aka ‘flashed’) so that everything changes gears at and when it should as well as having the speedometer post the correct speed.
Top speed under the lower gear ratio was 58mph and at apx. 2400 rmp. Under this new ratio the top speed will be governed at 70mph with an apx. 2400 rmp and at 65mph rpm’s would be apx. 2200.

I don't know, but I've heard that it is impossible to get the CAT engine smogged in CA as it is a military, unsmogregulated engine. Is this true?
I do like the looks of the platform though.

Go for it, those things are awesome trucks. I have driven them for about 10 years off and on, never has a problem or a break down. They ride good and can keep up in traffic when fully loaded. Best part is they have a crane to help you get to the spare tire.

Plus, they sound really good...lol.
