If you read the thread on Steel Soldiers, I think pages 7 & 8, the owner of the truck talked about what he had to do to get it from the US to Canada. Didn't sound like he had much difficulty.

Getting out of the US to CDN or MEX may not be a problem when touring, the problem may be returning to the US..

I ran into that situation a few years ago, got out of the country fine, truck was impounded for two weeks upon returning until all the proper paperwork and CMVSS requirements were proven.

were you headed back into the USA or back into CDN? ...was this an ex US military vehicle? if so, what were the specifics on the re-entry paperwork?

Civilianized Humvee. Just happened to get a border guard that knew his stuff, most just checked it out and liked it. Had to provide proof of CMVSS compliance for everything from windows, lights, to brake hoses. I had my attorney present the package which probably got more results than the rest of the paperwork.

Funny thing is there is the CMVSS in Canada, and the FMVSS in the USA, when there was not a simple answer available from the Canadian agency they would simply state to just follow the FMVSS regualtions because they mirror each other. In the heavier GVW trucks there is very little to worry about.

Another Deuce Camper

info posted w/ permission off Steel Soldiers..

"The Camper Apocalyptic

1972 M-35A2, with a White Multi Fuel "C" turbo. Standard camper 11 ft camper cut to fit the cargo bed. lots of add ons, but without cutting up or modifying the truck. Truck itself carries 80 lbs of propain. 125 gal of fuel, 40 gal of gas, 5 gal of white gas (mounted in jerry cans back of truck cab and running board. Has radios, amber headlights, a few 100,000s candle power overhead driving lights, IR lights, backup lights, side lights. Installed driving seats in place of the military springer seat as I have better than a 60 year old butt for long runs. Tows a M-105A2 with more stuff, and have a wierd, but cool MPS-11 Mobile Radar Trailer that carries everything inside. I.E. 300 gal water, motorcycle, generator, arc welder, gas tourches, tools, most of a years food supply, crain, and most any other thing you can think of. Can use top of mps-11 as a deck for the camper, with portable table and camp chairs. Have large camo net that covers most everything for a matching sun shade. Camper works well with shower, bathroom, refridgerator, air conditionion, force air heat, soon to be installed wood heat stove, propain cooking stove, sat t.v.dish (for field weather report), lot of storage on both sides of camper ( under camper in bed of truck ), c.b. radio in cab of truck, also c.b. radio with weather alert mounted in camper. With truck and trailer (mps-11) parked in strright line, a platform can be mounted on tailgate between truck and trailer, with steps from plateform to roof of trailer acting as a deck. And on and on it goes.........."

What kind of mileage does one get with a beast this large? Anyone know what the top speed would be? Very cool build, can't wait for more!!:Wow1:

Loco, my old man has a Duece and a half (M35A2), its the cargo truck version, basically the same C&C but with a flatbed instead of the box. It gets about 11-12 MPG (Unloaded). It's got a 55 MPH cruise control, shift T-case into high range, shift up to fifth gear, and hold the throttle to the floor, you won't pass 55 MPH. ;)
