the breaks comes with the backing plate. For now im using the drums that came with the trailer. Eventually im going to swap them out for 6 lug drums so that I can put the same H3 rims on the trailer.

Do the electric backing plates actually work with the mil hub/drum?

Yes the original 8 lug drums work with the new electric breaks and have no clearance issues with the backing plates. I just finished the pasenger side so next project is to wire the trailer with the new 7 prong 8ft cable and splice box under the trailer. I will take pictures and show which lead gets connected to each terminal post.

Interesting. I figured they would fit but read a post a while ago on steel soldiers about the mil drums not having magnets so the electric brakes would not engage.

I am going to have to look into that. So far I was only looking at fit and not operarion.

The XO series jack is now mounted and it fits perfect between the break lever and frame

New 7pin 8ft cable installed beneath the trailer same location as original connection point. All that remains is wiring both electric brakes back to the termination box, run a ground wire from the white leed to the frame ground and attach the brake lever cables.

last item I need to do before I try the brakes out on the trailer is to attach the trailer handbrake to the actual brake. Here is a picture of what I am up against.
