or these restored and in the event the standard 1/2 doors aren't tall enough

Well in typical fashion something with a bit of flair would be nice as well as unique. And FJ40 1/2 doors would be a useful addition to the M416.

Barn doors on your M416 would rock!
Keep us posted on the work!

Stopping by Global Xtreme Restorations - Land Cruiser Specialists in Hobe Sound, FL tomorrow to take a look at a set of ambulance doors make some measurements then compare to the 1/2 doors. Once I make a determination which would work best I'll establish the jumping off point. I agree barn doors would be sweet.

well...I like the build so far. BUT - not sure I agree with the barn door approach. You see a regular old drop down tailgate has a purpose...you can sit on it, you can eat on it, you can cook on it, you can get stuff off the dirt, you can.......... whereas the barn doors, while functionally equivalent, and maybe unique and cool looking - just plain get in the way.

Anyway - posted FWIW

I've secretly considered a tail gate from a FJ as well or just one I make myself (not nearly as glamourouse but it will work). I know more this afternoon.

Aaron, have you taken it to Castaways yet? ;) Nice job!!

Haha no, don't know what I would do with a trailer there (except sleep it off), my brother in law plays there on occasion (B-Liminal).

Love B-Liminal! I was just checking the Square Grouper ref. I'm in Jensen Bch but was in Jupiter for 5 years. So where are you gonna find rocks to crawl over with that thing? I'm always lookin for some but Ocala is the closest I can find!

Ocala, hmmm to tell you the truth I haven't been there in quite some time 4-5 years to be exact. I know many features were closed for one reason or another but mainly improper use of land (trash, trash, trash). I stopped in Stoney's 4x4 in Hobe sound testerday and the owner is trying to set up some sort of 4x4 club open to all vehicle makes and what not and then plan a trip to Alaska. We usually got to GA, AL or TN to wheel. Sand is only fun for so long....

Tent added comliments of Fernando at Campinglab. The trailer tent is pretty large in person, I can fit one of the large cots inside the room and still have a walkway from side to side. Mounting the tent should be this weekend.

This week I'm going to bolt aluminum L channel to the inside rails flush to the sides. Question is what thickness channel to use, 2" will be wide enough and provide enough meat to bolt the Yakima landing pad 1 to. But how thick should the aluminum be 1/8", 1/4"....?

Thanks
