We're still evaluating potential vehicles for our quest to create a vehicle that we can use to drive our family of four to South America.

My first question is whether or not one of these vehicles can be driven into another country. I know there are plenty for sale and they always say that they cannot be sold for Export and must be sold to a US citizen. Assuming that the vehicle is not "exported" and that I am a US citizen, can I drive throught other countries?

Also, assuming the above is true, can anyone share their experiences with these vehicles? How are they to drive? Do they have locking differentials for all 3 axles?

thanks

Fairly sure there's a thread on here somewhere talking about getting old mil trucks just across the border into Mexico. Legal or not (from a US perspective) the mexican side of the border isn't all that welcoming to military looking trucks.

If it is legal, its probably going to get hassled A LOT through most of the SA countries.

To me, your current Quad cab fits the bill pretty well.

Paint it bright orange and put polka dots on it and I doubt any of the mexican authorities would care it was there. If it looks like a box truck it will fit right in with all the random old cabs on trucks down there.

If its camo, they might get upset about it.
