Machete ID?

This machete was my Grandfathers which I have now been carrying around for a couple of years now. I am interested in finding out what the purpose of this was and if it has a name. I have been searching for a similar one online, but no luck. It needs a sheath also, but no luck finding one that fits.

Anyone have any info on this?

Gerber makes what they call a Gator Machete Pro that is similar, but not exact to your Machete. (Multi purpose tool)

You could make a sheath for it. All you need is some raw hide, a sewing awl, and string. Might even be a fun project for it.
