Maggiolina RTT inside height?

The website lists 36" as the 'open' height, can anyone tell me if this is outside or inside height? I think I know the answer, but is it possible to sit up in the Maggiolina? I'm 5'9", looking at a medium Maggiolina or Columbus.

You'll have no problem sitting up in a Maggiolina. I believe it is the top that raises up 36 inches but you also have more room under the roof. This space varies by Maggiolina model. For example the Grand Tour's roof is something like four inches higher than the AirLand's. This is for more storage space inside when closed but it also gives you a little more headroom.

A Maggiolina is like an alpine tent. Holds the heat down low. They could easily build the tent with more headroom but they wouldn't be as good in cold weather. The Columbus has something like five feet of headroom if you are looking for more height.

I haven't measured the inside height of my Grand Tour but I'm 6'3" and I can sit up and move about without bending my neck. I can also sit up and get dressed. No trouble putting my socks on or pants.

The GT does have a bit more inside height than the other Maggiolina's. Personally I don't care for the Columbus clamshell style but I've also never been inside one...

auslander,

The medium Maggiolina GT and Columbus are great tents. I've owned them both and they each have thier attributes with ample room to sit up and easily get dressed/undressed.
I really liked the Maggiolina and felt it was much warmer in true cold weather situations (we live in the damp, rainy PacificNW).

My wife thought it was what a coffin must be like to sleep in, so we sold the Magg and bought the Columbus Variant XL. Not as warm in my opinion, but much roomier inside, quicker setup/takedown, no crank handle to loose, and better ventilation abilities with two big screened openings on the sides and a huge one at the back.
