Hey everyone,
when open no sign of mold or rot on the canvass, the jack screw and sissor mechs. both showed no sign of rust and infact still looked to be somewhat lubed.

Glad you got it open. If it's an older unit with the blue-pressboard trim, I'd consider ripping it out and replacing it with real wood. The scissors are galvanized and don't rust, but will pick up a bit of corrosion. The screw is steel and will get rust on it, if for example your roof got a hole from an ice dam and the interior filled up with water which froze/thawed for a few months. As for the material, use the 303 fabric cleaner and guard, the stuff will make it new again.
The broken opener - perfect time to fit a 3/8" or 1/2" drive socket or the like in place. Loosing the stock handle (or forgetting it) tends to bring out the McGiver in you-usually at a time when you'd rather not have to be creative.
