I'm in Cabo for work (just had to throw that in) so can't take a pic but the Maggiolina uses two poles joined by a bolt in the middle and connected to a giant "screw" that runs the width of the tent. When the RTT is closed, the poles lay flat, parallel to eachother on top of the "screw". The RTT is lifted by turning the screw which brings the opposing ends of the poles closer together causing the poles to go from parallel to an "X".
To visualize- Take 2 pencils and lay them next to eachother on a table with the eraser of each pencil next to the tip of the other. While keeping the erasers touching the table, raise the pencils into an "X" by bringing the two erasers closer and closer while the tips rise up.
The giant screw looks exactly like the one found in a garage door opener. I'm new to the Maggiolina but it's an ingenious design.
