How do you like the tire carrier with the stock bumper? I have been debating to do this (help save weight as opposed to full metal). Have you found and shortcoming or do you wish you had gotten the matching bumper as well? Also I have some reservations about how fuel is loaded into the caddy. Ever since I was young it has been drilled into me to place the canister on the ground before filling to help reduce static electricity. Do you have a work around for this?

Funny you should mention the pintler wheels. Over the holidays I got myself some steel wheels (not mopar) and I have had nothing but problems with them so when I graduate from school I might get myself a set of pintlers as a little gift. That was really the only negative I've heard about them so far.

Can you please elaborate on that please. I'm thinking of steel wheels too, and would like to hear what problems you've had.

Thanks,

I got a set of pro comp wheels from quadratec. It wasn't so much the wheels just the little things piling up. They didn't come with hubs so I had to order those (a minor annoyance). Then I couldn't get them balanced so I ended up using powder (never again - it's not worth the cost and I get a pretty bad vibration at around 35 mph). So then I found out that that I needed some hub centric rings, so I ordered those only to find out that they are not compatible with my hub caps. I'm putting the rings on the rest of the way tonight so Ill post an update about my results. Hopefully this will solve my problems.

It wasn't so much the wheels and all of that, it was just all the little things that kept coming up. If they problem is resolved I wont worry about it and if not Im going to wait to fix it (Im going to a VMI and cars aren't allowed so my dad will be driving the jeep once a week to keep it in good shape). I would rather have a one and done project then something that takes two months to resolve. That and I saw a set of pintlers at the dealer recently while getting my front end rebuilt and they were simple beautiful.

Edit: I put the hub centric rings on and all problem were solved. I would who heartedly recommend these to anyone with aftermarket wheels.

I am happy with the tire carrier and stock bumper. The bottom line is that I wanted to put money toward other more important modifications prior to getting the matching rear bumper. Eventually I will add the matching rear bumper, but there is no rush.

That does it

Ive been following your rig here for a while now. Finally decided to contact the dealership about trading in my JK for JKU. After speaking with the sales guy (who I trust as much as one can trust a car salesman...) I will be waiting it out for about a year to see if Jeep decides to put the diesel engine in the current model JK before changing the body style and whatnot.

Thanks for the motivation and maybe Ill see you around VT in the future!

Ross, I hope Jeep wakes up and smells the coffee. I was in the same spot 4 years ago and decided to buy after having waited 2 years for them to go diesel. I am glad I didn't wait any longer.
Here is an updated shot of the MLO JK with the new Adventure Trailer Chaser in tow. I am now running 4.88's and have some more AT Overland goodies to install now that MLO is an official AT Overland Dealer.

I would love for you guys and this rig attend the ride I am putting together for October! What an excellent build!

On a side note, those modular bumpers you have on your website, the one that accepts those swivel shackle mounts, can you guys get those in raw steel? It would save me a ton of time stripping all the powder off since I will just be repowder coating it anyway
