Okay, time to make a public confession that may require my moderator title be revoked.

In 1990 I got suckered by a sales rep to not only buy a Kirk Precision but to race the dang thing. At the time, this was the single largest piece of cast magnesium in the world. It was heavy. It was noodley. It had horrific geometry. It couldn't even hold two friggin' bottles.

Who ever owns this bike in the pic really loved this bike to put full Record on it.

It is funny how perspectives differ. I see that frame and I see a Chinese pile(no offense intended). A lugged steel Nobilette of Steelman on the other hand with perfectly even shore lines and zero pinholes in the brass makes me drool. A ti frame with flawless welds and perfectly symmetrically bent stays makes me grin ear to ear.

Funny you should say that. For two years, I worked in Mark Nobilette's frame shop. I walked away from those two years with two nice frames and a very firm appreciation for the craft and art of frame building. I also had a Euro Cross Steelman for the 2003 season.

That said, I still lust for a Colnago EPs. Different kind of craft and art, but none the less it is crafted artwork.

Small world. Mark built my wife's Rivendell Legolas. Now THAT is a pretty bike.

If I could find this bike and afford to buy it, I'd build a room just to display it.

Sad thing is, I owned this very bike in 1988 and raced the poo out of it. Why did I sell it? Why?

By the way, this is easily valued at well over $8500 in this condition.

It's the most impractical bike I've ever seen.

I think you finally figured out what the designers were after. No where does it say this is the fastest, smoothest etc bike out there, it is a design. Some might even call it "art". LOL

Reminds me of most of the architecture in Aspen over the last 10 years, big, not very thoughtful, inefficient etc but from what I can tell the same plan has been sold hundreds of times. Being a design/plan/build guy I don't get it but apparently if you're from Texas or Saudi Arabia and have at least 200mil it's the shizz.
