Major Metal Failure on the Aerotow

So if anyone is following my Aerotow trailer project, I noticed that there was a MAJOR failure where the tongue assembly bolts to the structure of the trailer. It's all in the video, and the photos below. If you have an Aerotow, give it a check and think about reinforcing it a bit.

I think it'll be a simple matter to make a new tongue, and it'll allow me to lengthen the draw bar and add a tire carrier as well.

By extending the tongue and with the added weight of a spare tire it won't hurt to catch the crossmember between the spring hangers as well.

Ultimately you'll need a stronger frame. In the mean time watch for cracks around the spring hangers

No. Going to make it a winter project. I have decided to completely rebuild the frame and bolt the trailer body to the new frame. I'll finalize the design, then start cutting and grinding and welding...
