Hi,

I would like to inform you that Marion and Walter with their MAN KAT 4x4 now have reached the USA. They crossed the border from Mexico at Reynosa at 04/10/08. They are on a tour round the world since 2004. If you see them then give them a wave :wavey: and record the location here, may be with an image, please.

I am sure they are also happy to get contact to anybody who knows nice places for them to visit.

You can find more information about their journey in german language at http://www.katonworldtour.lkw-allrad.de/ . You may translate with one of the online translators.

Enjoy,
Emil

It is a bit overloaded and so they had a lot of problems with the suspension.
i was thinking that... from 7 to 12 tons, wow...no wonder.
thanks for the tech infos.
would still be cool to see how they modified the interior and such...

They are currently at White Sands National Monument and are heading to the Grand Canyon.

They currently enjoy USA very much and get great response from the people. Especially the truck is called "beast" by most people. :D

Spotted!!! -

I was returning from Flagstaff yesterday afternoon about 3:00 and glanced over to a roadside rest stop on I17 north of Phoenix. I think it was just north of the Montezuma Castle area. I was southbound and they were on the opposite northbound side.

In the rest stop I saw a white/cream colored MAN with the cab tilted forward to access the engine. I almost turned around to go see but by the time the next exit came around it became not worth it since I wasn't certain of what I saw. But now that you mention it and I see the pictures of their rig and their intended route..... that was them!:safari-rig:

I hope they were ok.

I tried to sign the guest book, but came across a problem. To keep spammers at bay they use that... Not sure what it is called. When you have to enter the crazy letters into the box. but the letters don't show up,so I can't enter them. Long Story short. I can't leave a note for them.

Emil, could you pass on a message to them for me. If they are in the San Francisco area to contact me. I think a a few of us would like to meet them.

Everybody who wants to get in contact to them can send me a PM with name, area of contact, a phone number and/or email address. I will then forward this info to them. They may then contact you. I will also ask them to provide their email address and then forward it to everybody interested in a contact.

I have also invited them to ExPo. May be they write in this thread soon.

Cheers,
Emil

Great report. The Walmart parkinglot is somewhat different, an expedition in Walllyworld! :). Must be a little different driving that big rig for low lock camping. Was kind of wondering how that fits on the offhighway trails. (as we have plenty of our own tight moments.)

Do they have a pre planned route posted anywhere? i cant seem to find one?
Will they be heading further north? or going to canada? Id love to meet them if they come my way up in bellingham wa.
