I was driving up I-81 near Fort Drum in NY a few months ago and saw lots of Man Kat 4x4's in a number of convoys. Do they ever show up in military surplus auctions? All the ones I saw had the same kind of specialty flat bed. Anyone know what they are used for?
If you then go through the auction history and search for MAN, you'll see that a 4x4 went for around 6500 euros, A 6x6 under 10000 euros and the 8x8s can be had for less than 20000 euros.
Is that good by US standards?
These trucks all have drying seals, so expect leaks. However the DEUTZ engins are indestructible, if noisy.
Shipping? A friend recently Ro-Ro-d his 4x4 camper to America for around 2000 euros, he took a cabin on the boat too. No idea what it would cost through an agent.
Those trucks are what some peoples' dreams are made of. Hope I've fuelled a few dreams.
