I've heard the southdown seals better, but who cares, if you're over the hood in water you're probably already screwed in a RV8. I prefer the Mantec look/build quality.

On the D1 they will seal up the same. I like the fit and finish a little better on the Mantec. The Southdown dose have a plastic cap that you can twist and point in almost any direction.

I have the SouthDown(TerraFirma) snorkel and am pretty happy with it. Got it for a good deal, otherwise I would have gone Mantec.
Hooking it up is very simple. Pull the air horn and silicone the flex hose on the airbox. Done.
You can use the snorkel without the plastic mounting base so it will look similar to the Mantec install. However, DO NOT use their template when doing so. The template has you cut way more than needed, assuming you'll cover the hole with their plastic piece.
