I'm having trouble loading it on XP, I get the spinning disc symbol and
a "Runtime Error, abnormal program termination" sign and have to delete
everything and re-boot to get the disc out of the drive. Any ideas?
I'm a puter dummy, so keep it so easy a cave man could do it. :Wow1:

RedRocker, I spent a Looonngggg time on hold once, but got a software technician who knew what the heck he was talking about. I got the impression he was The Guy in an obviously small department who writes the software. My issue was running MapCreate on Vista, which has complicated permissions issues regarding the Registry. He showed me how to hack it, and I posted it on this ExPo channel about a year ago.

I didn't have any problems under XP, so I don't know what your specific issue might be. Sorry

I have two computers, one XP and one Vista. I can't get it to load on XP, but did do the fix and got it on Vista, but my card reader doesn't work on Vista. I'm not a computer person and it's kind of frustrating not being able to make a map. I sent some e mails to LEI, after about a week, they'd send some answer that wasn't helpful and seemed like you were bothering them. No interest in making sure you could solve the problem. I have a friend that's very up on this stuff, unfortunately he lives a long way off. He's checking out a system from Garmin, once he has that deal figured out and de-bugged I'll cut my losses with Lowrance and they can KMA!

i forget how to set it up in Xp but try to install the program in compatability mode. it will tell windows how to handle the older code.

and when your computer locks up and won't give the cd back, take an unfolded paper clip and there is a little whole next to the eject button. insert the unfolded paper clip and push, its a mechanical release for the drive.

laptop drives will spring open, desktop drives will push the gears to open the drive. hope that helps
