Well, pretty easy....other than the information availbale on the various websites your oly chance is speaking with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, though he´s not giving that much more information than is availbale it the multipage preparation and expedition report.

The rafts were sold and the whole project was stopped out of "politics" and budgetary reasons.

The trip across the Bering Strait was nonetheless made, much more basic, but not much less expensive, by Steve Burgess and Dan Evans in a Defender 110, which covered part of it´s journey on tracks designed and build by Steve Burgess.

The report and images of that trip can be found on their "Cape to Cape" website: http://www.capetocape.org.uk

So long,

Robert

Thank you Robert but how do you think I can meet him and talk to him?

I have one of Fiennes books where he talks briefly about prep for the expedition and states very matter of factly that when BMW took over ownership of Land Rover they immediately pulled all funding for the expedition.

Now I understand.
The time with BMW and Landrover wasn´t a good time.
This time I´ve had my Landy....
No more comments... It was sad enough!
Thank you anyways.

But one question.
Why does he find no one else, to give him the funding.
If you want to do something you find the way.
It is hard, but i works.

This man seems to be, a special person with so many ideas and energy.
What does he now?

Hi StoneSeeker,

Ran is currently back on his farm in the UK, he doesn't take many calls but James on his staff is pretty good about answering questions via email if they add value in some way.

Mac is currently in Russia somewhere I think but he is online every few days. Mac probably can answer any questions about the technical setup of that project just as well as Ran could.

If you just want to know more about running a D110 on Mattracks, send me a PM, I have a set on mine.

Cheers

Ray
