maxtrax mounting on side of 80 series

any 80 series owners mount their maxtrax on the side of the vehicle over the sliding window?
how did you secure them?

Here is a slick solution designed for flat sided vehicles like the Defender. Might be able to use it as a basis for an 80 series design.
