Saw this one down in Marfa Texas last weekend. Seems the wood bottom would be very good for insulating the top of the car from the sun and heat. The wire solution for the side rails would cost effective and not add much in the way of wind resistance. There would be plenty of tie points and the barbs would help keep tie lines from slipping. Maybe even some theft deterrent. Probably long enough to lay down on and strong enough to set up my camera tripod and takes shots from the roof. Ok, maybe not..
