Measurements from 6" UJOR conversion? Feedback, comments.

Hi Gang,
I'm saving for a UJOR kit and looking for feedback on the differences between the 4" and 6" lift.
I have driven a 4" and was impressed with the stability and decent small bump compliance but with somewhat limited up travel
Does the 6" lift kit have a full 2" more usable up travel?

My van started as a windowless cargo E350 EB 7.3. I did a 2wd Camburg Engineering suspension with SMB top. Windows, insulation and custom interior etc by me.
It has about 4" lift which is all converted to pretty usable travel. (see pics)
I am now considering a UJOR kit but I am hesitant to go with the 6" lift due to windage, stability and drive-ability concerns.
Can anybody with a 6" UJOR comment on the stability and drive-ability on / off road? I am also interested in a measurement from the axle center to the edge of the stock wheel well. (front and rear) This will allow me to compare height to my current rig regardless of tire size.
I've included a few pics of my rig for kicks and grins.
Cheers
Aaron

You have a very nice platform to build on there.
I'm very happy with the 6" lift and 35's. It is very stable in the wind, and it actually corners, yes. I said it corners. I have pulled some right turns at speeds I shouldn't have just to see what happens, and what happened ? I accelerated out of the turn as would any autobot. In the dirt the extra 2" means I can keep up with my friends in there outfitted JK's often times passing them to get out of the dust. The extra wheel base and up travels makes for fun fast rides.
At ride height from the ground to the center of the wheel well on the body is rear 42.5" there is 9" of wheel well available for up travel, and with my exhaustive work with the great fellas at Atlas Springs we got the pins placed perfectly so when the wheel travels nothing rubs.

requested measurements
Front 27.5"
Rear 26.6"

Hope this helps.

I can get you some dimensions, but here are the advantages to the 6".

Yes, you'll get more wheel travel, the 2" makes a difference in up travel. On the 6" kits we can run a longer pitman arm that will give you a better turning radius. As far as stability goes, there is no difference between the 4 & 6. the 6" may be more stable since we can run a trac bar! the 6" kits are out best all around performers.

I have had a 6" kit for 2 years now and I love it. I use it for occasional moderate off roading and its a great size. Sometimes I think maybe I should have done the 8" but I think thats cause I see pictures Chris puts up and they look so tough. On road performance is very good, like toolman said it actually handles pretty well surprisingly. I think I make people a little uncomfortable when going around corners cause it really has hardly any body roll. Small bump compliance I would say is ok, it is a pretty firm ride, I would love to try some progressive springs.

I should confirm that even though it corners well, it still has a cushy feel. I'd like to drive a different UJOR Van and see if there is a difference.

Hey Toolman
Thanks for the info. That's really helpful. I read your build thread and you do nice work!. I may have a few more questions when I eventually get into the 4x4 project
Meanwhile, thanks for the measurements also,
Cheers
