Mercedes Zetros public launch

Just got an invitation from Mercedes to join the launch off the Mercedes Zetros end april at the " Bauma" show in Munchen (D)

Looks like they gone sell them for the "normal" public :victory::victory:

Wandering how long it will take to see one as an expedition vehicle....

Probably makes more sense than a unimog for an expo vehicle. Longer wheelbase and fewer exotic features.

I want to hear more about the Zetros that's being used for an expedition in Mongolia! I can't find that info anywhere.

It's a nice truck - but way to big for an expedition truck in my view. Do they make a smaller model? A 3.7m wheel base 4x4 would be better.

The 4x4 has a wheelbase of 4.8m the 6x6 4.75+1.45.

The bed on the 4x4 is 5.1m long and on the 6x6 6.2m, so i guess there's no need to stretch the frame. :D

only surpassed in ugli-ness by the old soviet and eastern bloc stuff.

With all the cool stuff that Daimler and associated companies build, why pick that..?

Hello DzlToy:

I think that, as with everything, it's just a matter of taste. I prefer by far the overwheel cab but to me the Zetros looks great, and the service-ability concept of the cabin (army requirements) is pretty amazing.

By the way, I don't like Urals, Graz and all those.

Greetings.

Last year I had 2 of them sat outside my office for a week along side 3 Unimogs, they were on display as they were the new emergency response vehicles for the U.K nuclear power plants.
Obviously I had to have a good look around them, very very impressive vehicles, and they made the Mogs look like toys. As I have an interest in old military vehicles, especially eastern block vehicles, the Zetros has a similar presence, and is certainly on my wish list.
They obviously aren't as specialist as the mogs, no portal axles for example but they looked like they could drive over a Mog without breaking a sweat
