michael, saw your entry on brabyns website about installing a delco alt. on your classic. i have a delco alt im trying to install on my 91 classic. original lucas has brown wire w small ring connectore
large red wire with ring connector
small white wire to split connector. 1 to slide on and the other plugs into blue wire on back of alt.
delco 4 plug has p,l,i,f, and a bat+ terminal on back on alt. body. do you know which go where?
by the way, love your trailer on your old site. am trying to get mine done, kinda the same, but not near as nice.

Holy crap, to get called out like this I'd better have a good answer. Problem is, I don't remember at all how it was hooked up...and I no longer have that truck, so I can't run out and look and see how I did it.

Lemme see if I can't find a picture to see how the wires were hooked up. Man, that conversion was done a while ago, it's funny to see that someone actually read it!

I do know that you can get a Saturn alternator and rotate the front cover 90-degrees and it's a direct bolt-in for the RRC (non-serpentine belt).

I'll get back to you...

thanks, i have it bolted in, found another site that explains wiring. putting out 13.89-14.00 volts at idle, even with hellas,ac,headlights, interior lights and stereo on. should be ok. originally started searching for a cure to stubbling off idle while driving. when in gear at a stop, tach reads zero. obviously not 0 since its running. just hit 200k miles and possibly the original alt. so alt. seemed a reasonable fix. still stumbling when idle in gear and romp on the gas, stalls and/or stubbles. i can shut off and resart and all will seem ok for a few minutes then more of the same. i have cleaned t fitting, and breather. cleand air filter. checked connections at intake,etc..
now im thinking fuel pump possibly and/or cap and rotor although they appear good. replaced 8 mos ago, though slightly burnt on contacts inside cap and on tip of rotor. went through stumbling with a 92, now a parts truck, and it was fuel pump. maybe a good weekend project. i replaced the 92 fuel pump with a ac parts pump assy, retofitted into oem housing. worked great for about 2 $28. sorry to call you out but you were listed on brabyns site and i noticed you were here pretty often.

No problem. Sounds like you got it figgered out. Stumbling idle? Might have to replace the IAC valve or clean the MAF sensor wire.
