I’ve been busy working on the Montero, I replaced a few things and fixed other things. An Old Man Emu suspensión lift is coming, I placed an order, but according to the vendor they gotta wait for customs to clear the shipment from Australia before they can ship the parts out. Mean while, I replaced my 4year old seat covers, these seat covers are such good quality for the price that I ordered the same ones in a different color this time.

After taking a trip to The Mojave road I noticed a loud clonking noise coming from underneath the Montero, also after that trip to the Mojave I couldn’t go over 45 mph without the truck swaying uncontrollably.
Turns out the trailing arm bushings were shot!! They need it to be replaced BADLY! I ordered a set of Siberian bushings ( you can find the part numbers in the picture below) Also the trailing arms on my 95SR were a bit corroded, so I went to the junk yard and pulled out a set of trailing arms off of a 97 Montero LS that were in better shape! I also pulled out a few other parts that I’ll be swapping over, My 95 Sr found its way to Vegas from Missouri so naturally there’s some parts under the truck that have corrosion. I’m taking this opportunity to replaced them.
Replacing the bushings on the trailing arms was a harder than I was expecting. You WILL need a ball joint remover kit, a high impact gun, elbow grease and a lot of intuition.
After you put the bushings in the trailing arms and are ready to go back in remember to torque to proper specs.

Sometime towards the end of may I added a set of AISIN manual locking hubs.
Bought these at $100 a piece.
There are two part numbers for these
AISIN FHM-002 metal Dial (I got these)
AISIN FHM-003 plastic dial.
Don’t worry, I did greased all the parts before installing the hubs, I just dint take a picture of it.
This upgrade is pretty easy to do in a couple of hours or less, but if you do need guidance, there’s a video on YouTube by Dahlen Aventures on “how to” do this job.

And the last upgrade I did to the Montero was done a couple of days a go. On June 2nd.
I replaced the original Gen2 headlights for a set of Gen2.5 headlights. This small upgrade made a HUGE Difference.
Not only does the Montero look better aesthetically, but the output of brightness and the distance has improved tremendously.
I am extremely pleased with this small upgrade. It was a very easy swap. You will also need to swap the 2.5 connectors to make this work, is a really simple procedure,the wires are color coded so you can’t mess this up. First photo is the headlight connector of the Gen2.
Second photo is the Gen 2.5 headlight connector that you will need to make this swap work.

Man!! Is been a long while since I’ve updated my thread!
Since the last update I’ve done quite a bit on the wagon.
I installed a full Old Man Emu suspension, including torsion bars. Bought a nice set of 33” KO2s. Did a transmission flush @184,XXX miles, upgraded the crank bolt. Removed the factory roof rack and installed a set Yakima rain gutter racks.
I also removed the Gen2 back leather seats and replaced them with a set of Gen 2.5 clothe seats( so much more comfortable) and easier to get in and out. The door panels were switched to match the clothe seats. Got a new RTT and an Ironman awning with the quick release tabs.
And last but not least, we bough a 1991 Gen 1 Montero RS!! This is going to be my son’s and I new project. He is going to be 13 yrs old soon and we are going to restore it together. By the time he is old enough to drive, this Gen 1 will be his. I’m excited about this restoration.
