My heater is an Espar Airtronic 5, so no water heating. This summer will be 6 years in the van, trouble-free. I am planning to open it up this year and see if it needs cleaning (or send it out for servicing). It has been great, and kicks out a tonne of heat. We spend many nights a year at a local ski hill, so good heat has been essential, even with the top popped.

Awesome van. Check out the great sand dune national park in Colorado. There is a spot you can rent a sand board and carve the dunes. There are also a few river spots you can surf in Colorado.

What part of San Diego you going to be operating out of? I did 4 years there, retired from the military. I lived in Escondido and worked at the Navy Base in Downtown San Diego. There's a lot of good trails in the area. Anzio Borrego is some good off road and camping there.

We took down the secondary comm antenna today. We start on the primary on wednesday.

In regards to the van, how many BTU's are typically needed for a diesel heater for a SB? Any recommendations would be great. One that doubles as a water heater would be optimal! Also, what cfm rating water pump do people typically put in? Thanks in advance for any input.

So I've moved back to FL and I'm finally getting settled in. I haven't been getting much done because it's been pouring every afternoon. I forgot what florida summers were like. Anyway, ALL the cables to the doors were bad so I've replaced a few. I still need to get the handles for the doors. I put on all the aluminess stuff.

The ladder was pretty straight forward, just line it up, drill 2 holes, bolt it on.

Then I worked on the tire carrier and box for my motocross gear.

Take the bumper off

Drill out the bottom 1/4" of the pin and knock it out. Put in the new hardware.

Eventually, I just put it inside so I knew where it was.

Put the window in today.. To be honest, I didn't measure ****. I just eyed it level, held up the inside frame and traced it out with a marker. I got pretty close with the saw and only had to use a grinder for about a minute just to smooth everything out. Pretty self explanatory.

Very cool foundation, love the bedliner inside and out.

It appears to be towards the end of your trip and its certainly your choice to make, but I would seriously consider avoiding the east "coast" in the south. The beaches are not pretty like they are in Florida and in the islands, I-95 is an awful mess pretty much all the time and you will miss out on a bunch of cool stuff inland. Plenty of cool places in WNC (Western North Carolina) and Eastern Tennessee. Chattanooga, Boone, Asheville, Hayesville and several other towns in the region could be used as bases or jumping off point for other adventures. It will be a bit chilly that time of year in the mountains if you stick to your timeline, but that is almost three years away and I presume a lot of things will change between now and then.

If you want to parallel the i95 route I would suggest us17 if you looking for the coastal flavor. If inland is more your style I'd say us1 or us301. The small towns along these route have the remains of their hay day before the interstates.
