There are a lot more pictures now than there were originally and they do show a lot of thoughtful effort went into building the truck.

3 liter turbo with those tires! Unless they have regeared that thing is going to be a dog. And I would be thinking that a shortened frame is not the best thing to build a camper on. But it would be a cool chase rig or support vehicle for motorcycle tours.

First issue I have with it are the lack of rear fenders and mud flaps.

That could be converted to a teardrop style camper easily by adding a partition or back wall, spray foam insulate the inside, add the combination door/windows and a roof vent then panel the inside and put the bed in. Then you just have to add the kitchen.

A second option would be to cut the bed down to the floor and get atc to build you a popup camper for the back.

I've been lusting after an Earthcruiser for many years, but I'm facing the reality that I'll probably never have that kind of money for a rig like that, so this Fuso seems interesting to me.
What are all your thoughts on what it might take to make this truck into a livable vehicle? I do not have the skills to do such a conversion myself. What might such a conversion cost, and does anyone know a shop that might be able to help? Also, is anyone here who is mechanically inclined, possibly able to help me inspect this truck?

Thanks in advance.

That was my thinking with this rig but though many people have used fusos as platforms for an adventure rig I just decided that these rigs where meant to carry weight on the back but NOT while is being twisted on trails and off road! I understand a 3 or spring 4 point system could fix some but i do wonder about serious off road....ahh too top heavy for me to go on trails... A unimog on the other hand was built to twist.... If you start truly considering this be aware that if this rig was built to wheel they have probably done just that with it so get the frame inspected by someone who could check for a twisted or damaged frame just in case whoever did built it actually did beat it ...

Good thoughts everyone. I had the same 'red flags' pop up when I saw this ad.

So um... Who has a Mog camper they want to sell cheap?

I guess I'll keep saving and keep looking.
Somewhere is the rig I've been looking for, and I'll have to be patient and optimistic.

Yeap! I have seen a couple of unimogs come up for sale before around the 20k mark.. some on the older side but still design for what you have in mind for sure. Good luck with your search for the perfect rig
