Guys,
I got a mate with a workshop here in Australia and he has just done some work on a current shape D4D Diesel hilux auto with 265/75x16 tyres , that has the same 3" exhaust as I do.....he was about to fit a Steinabuer Performance Chip to it and did a dyno run before with exhaust and after with exhaust and steinbauer fitted.
The Steinbauer Module connects to each individual injector and adjust the injection timing and duration to better suit the engine than factory.
Heres a link to some info on the Steinbauer for those of you interested -
http://www.hitechdiesel.com.au/products_steinbauer_power_module.htm
With the exhaust only fitted, he got 371.8 nM of torque, thats a 28.8nM torque increase....not bad from exhaust only. Dyno Graph below-
And with the exhaust and steinbauer fitted he got 466.7nM....Those figures are at the flywheel so they are the torque figures on the graphs plus 30% due to powerloss to the rear diff. Dyno graph below -
Thats an overall increase of 123.7nM over the stock 343nM....and thats just bolted the Steinbauer on, not tuning it to suit the exhaust so Im sure that there would be a little bit more in it.
Something I may consider doing soon......
Just thought I'd share with you Yanks what you guys are missing out on and how easily and cheaply these new generation Toyota Diesel engines can be modified.
There is another company here in OZ that has another boost module that can be fitted and they say you can boost the variable vane turbo's on the diesel engines by 2 mor pounds of boost pressure, thats the same and reliable limit they say, and makes a big difference when temaed up to a power module and exhaust.
I know of one vehicle on some aussie forums that is pushing 500nM of torque from these little engines...thats as much as some V8's GM sells.....
