Where did this net out? I'd like to do similar, but we have a Honda Pioneer 1000 (right around 10' x 5.25'). Towed by a Touareg TDI, less concerned with width or off-road ability. Just want something simple that we can pull the Honda with, park at a campsite, pop up RTT, and then take the Honda out on trails.
We bought a second quad for my wife which really changed trailer needs. I stuck with the trailer I had which is a 12' deck and I load the front atv sideways and the rear one straight on. The up side is that the snowmobile is not an issue anymore... Easily fits on the big deck.
I can't narrow it up like I wanted because we need the full width for the front atv now. But, I'm building a rack for the RTT and a kayak that will go above the ATV's for the front 6' of the deck. I flipped the axle to get a little more ground clearance and rewired it all with plans to add a battery box on the tongue to run camp lights, add brakes (axle has flanges for them), and switch the hubs to match my Toyota bolt pattern.
It will weigh close to 3000lbs loaded so I am not going to attempt the built in kitchen and other cool stuff I was wanting to do for the sake of keeping it as nimble as I can. We'll continue to carry kitchen stuff in the back of the truck and use folding tables to set up the kitchen... Nothing fancy or expensive but it seems to work for us.
It's not what I really wanted out of a trailer, but it's close enough I think I'll be happy with it. The biggest things I'm missing are a track width that matches the tow vehicle which would make mud and deep snow much better, some storage/built in kitchen, and more offroad friendly suspension. It should work great to get our stuff to base camp for a weekend of riding ATV's around, but I won't be pulling it through any technical trails for sure.
