Modular Trailer/Box

Okay, here's what I'm picturing: Think of an AT TacoChaser or CAMPA EVS box but not bolted to a naked frame. I'm thinking of something that can be set on either a flatbed (F250 Ute bed) or flatbed trailer (M116 3/4T) and moved if needed.

Anyone seen or done this? Thoughts and opinions? The two main drawbacks I see is that it would be very cumbersome to move. It would require a overhead hoist in the neighborhood of at least 500lbs. And it would need some sort of heavy duty tie down method to secure it.

The advantage is you're getting dual use out of your equipment.

The little wazzat trailers,, same concept,, but not execution,, they make a little teardrop kinda trailer thing,, and it latches down to an alum. flatbed utility trailer.two trailers in one,,. somebody here posted info on them a while back.. might give you ideas on mounting..

Seems to me that one could use the hyd jacks used on larger slide-in pick-up bed campers to load and unload it. Very likely could make them easy to attach and remove so that they're only present when needed.

I'm currently building a multi-use trailer that will haul 3 full side ATVs (Polaris Sportmans) on a flat deck, or with the removal of the aft center section of the deck, allows the use of a Pinzgauer 712 ambulance box as a camper and still hold 2 ATVs since one will fit in the 712 box. It is a high deck (over the wheels) 14 feet (without tongue) long 87" wide 31" high deck. Width, wheel track and deck height all match the tow vehicle ('02 Ford F-250). In front of the dropped center section there are tanks to hold 40 gallons of water and 40 gallons of fuel (refuel ATVs), plus sideboxs outside of the frame rails. The 712 box is very heavy (1000+ pounds), but I have an overhead hoist set-up to load/un-load it. Camper jacks would be an easier set-up to load/un-load, but since the trailer deck is wider then the 712 box, the overhead hoist is easier for me. I could put cut-outs in the trailer deck for camper jacks if that ever became necessary. Not really an 'adventure trailer' as it is large and heavy, more of a dirt-road camping ATV hauling trailer.

:clapsmile awesome, I was thinking of something on a bigger scale like that too as another trailer (how many friggen' trailers does a person need??) Something like a big flatbed to haul cars or tractors. but with a container for my horses that could be put on and off.

PS-Lol, that post makes me sound like a complete redneck :D Just because my house, wife, and horses are in Alabama I'd just like to point out I'm not from there. Not that there's anything wrong with being from Alabama.

That's how I feel, especially when I went to the DMV last month and dropped a ton on renewal fees!

Since I have our camper up for sale, I am thinking of getting rid of the 2 place ATV trailer and picking up either a Big Tex 12EQ or an enclosed V-Nose car hauler.

Even though the EQ is a huge trailer (12K), 20' plus tounge... it makes me money . (Currently borrow one from a friend) So am familar with this model.

But i could convert the V-nose in to a qusi-camper/garage for long hauls for the family and the toys!

I've even gone as far as designing the interior/exterior.
