Mojave Road Adventure Jan. '09

I've been wanting to do this trail for a while now. So from Jan 9-11th, I did! There is just so much to see and explore out there. Three days is definetly the minimum amout of time you'd want to travel through the Mojave Road. Now that I'm somewhat familiar with it I'll have to plan another trip for the spring and bring the wife along.

Well, around 3:30 on thrusday I met up with a friend in Santee and headed on out. Chatting on the CB is always fun on a long haul. We gased up again in Barstow and reached the Mojave Road trailhead around 10:00 I believe. I didn't feel like breaking out the tent so I just slept in the front of the Jeep. Well, not really slept, more like tossed and turned. I must had gotten a few hours of sleep, though.

Our first night's camp was in Caruthers Canyon. It was cold and windy and we all hit the hay pretty early. Next camp was at Seventeenmile Point. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the fire, tacos and beer well into the night.

Here we are camped out at the trailhead, just off Needles Highway.

Looks like you had a good time and great weather - I want to take my wife next time when the weather is a little warmer.

I'm so glad you posted this up. Thinking about taking a trip there in the spring myself...I've been wondering if 2 days is enough of if it should be 3. Maybe we will see you out there!

It can be done in two days with a heavy right foot.

Three is better, if not four.
