Your best bet is to just test drive them all. The Gen2, Gen2.5, and sport are all body on frame, so they will feel and drive more like a truck. The Gen3 is larger, heavier, more luxurious, and is unibody construction, so more like a typical crossover or car. Not to say it's lacking offroad, just different design, some will say it is better offroad than previous versions based on the technology behind controlling the suspension, etc. I've never driven a Gen3, so I can't give you any solid firsthand advice on it.
