Montero owners, help with seat info!!!!

Looking for some help from the Montero owner crowd. I have a 1978 fj40 that is from Bolivia, the PO had seats pulled from a Montero Sport and covered in Bolivian leather. Although nice seats, I live in Tucson where the sun will kill these with the top off in days! My question is, what year do you think these came from? I am looking to buy some seat covers that are weather proof and the headrest is the critical factor.

Thanks in advanceIMG_1354.jpg

IMHO the bases look pretty tall to come from a sport (unless he meant the 2 door version of the full sized Montero). IMHO those look to be gen II Montero seats (92-00).

Thanks for the quick reply. I will research these years and see what I come up with. The Monteros may be different in South America as well.

If they are sport seats, they are from a 96-2000. The seats in the 2001 look nothing like that at all. At least from here in the states.

Whatever they are from they look good inside an even better looking FJ40.

Thanks Black ZJ! I absolutely love the seats but not what the PO did. He had special mounting brackets made for the seats and they are too tall, at 5'11" tall I cannot see a traffic light when I am stopped and have to duck down to see if the light changes. I want to get back to original but this will take mucho $$$$!

Those are from a SWB second generation, probably RHD. They have the small little memory lever on the side of the seat back,as well as the lumbar support rather than an armrest. It's unusual to see the height adjustment knobs on a SWB but it could b a regional thing.

I have a pair of somewhat rare adjustable suspension seats out of an early 90's Montero if you are looking at swapping yours out.

They may be rare in your neck of the woods, but here they are plentiful. $13-$15 at the pick n pulls, even Gen 2's can be found for the same price.

Early 90's are Gen 2 Monteros as far as most of us are concerned.... I bet you have 5 pairs of them sitting around.
