Montero Pricing Guide

In an effort to better help others determine if they are paying the right amount for their Montero, I was hoping we could start a Pricing Guide.

Basically, just give us:

Year, Model, Tranmission
Mileage (when purchased or sold)
Maintenance (good, bad, when sold)
Rust or Overall Condition
Modifications (when purchased or sold)
Price paid or Price sold (or both)

If you're worried about giving away potential profit margins, feel free say "Bought for $1,XXX, sold for $2,XXX", as it will at least give the rest of us a ball park idea of how awesome you are at finding deals.

I applaud your efforts if you really want to compile all this data. Personally, the one thing about Mitsubishi's is they retain their value about as well as a lead ship can float. However, I'll play along.

1994 SR AT
118k
Bad, with snapped timing belt, and cracked radiator
No rust, but exterior is about a 6, with interior a 6
No mods
Asking $750, paid $400.

I think its valuable for others to know what to pay. Personally, if I know that most people can get a good example for $3,000 with maintenance records, I sure as hell am not going to pay $3000 for one that is beat to crap. I almost did that last night and realized I needed to figure out what the going rate for year/mileage/maintenance was, and after looking through numerous threads where nobody posted how much they spent I resorted to asking Toasty down in Phoenix.

Here's the one I looked at last night, for reference:

1997 SR Automatic
138,000 miles
Bad condition, no rust, replaced engine of unknown mileage, leaking automatic trans fluid at alarming rate from unknown location.
Asking price $3000, willing to take $2500, unwilling to go lower. Didn't purchase.

1997 Montero SR - Automatic - Rear air locker
207k miles
Basic maintenance, overly honest seller pointed out each and every single issue, so no surprises.
Minimal rust, some surface rust on frame, I've snapped about 8-10 old bolts that I've had to drill out and replace.
Stock except for locking hubs and 31x10.50's
Paid $1400

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Dude, I was thinking this exact same thing when reading PLH's post.

Bought 1994 SR for $400, very minimal surface rust, smoked, missing catalyst, needed starter and alternator.
Invested $2100 engine reseal, all new belts and hoses including all timing parts, complete tune up <All Mitsubishi original parts. trans flush and fill, 2" Bodylift and 35" Toyo All terrain tires, custom tube bumper. Exterior was Good and interior was slightly better than good but not mint.
Sold to PA_JERO for $2000 needing a coolant pipe replaced (weeping) I would have sold it to a non homie for $3000 with leak or $3500 without (PITA)

Bought 1998 Montero LS for $900, almost no rust needed a new heater hose and a cooling system flush also had been in a front end collision.
Invested Maybe $200-300 in tune up and collision repairs, Very Good condition cloth interior from this 1998 into my 1999 with fair condition leather interior.
Traded for a 1983 Mighty Max being sold for $2000 but worth $1500.

I'll get some more up, I've bought and sold plenty. Also These trucks are worth more than I typically sell them for, I usually don't try to make money. I'd just like to find good homes for them all plus it's just a hobby.
