Montero Sport - Interior Hatch Release?

I am building out my 2001 Montero Sport as a solo camper and would like to be able to open the hatch from the inside.

I've seen a lot of Honda Element owners do this on YouTube, but nothing for Montero Sport.

Step 1, remove the rear hatch trim. Step 2, pull up on the handle while watching the moving parts inside. Step 3, install an internal release handle based on your view of the previous step.
